Fault Tree Analysis

  • Fault Tree Analysis is a top down modeling method for estimating the probability of multiple combinatory or single point failures contributing to the occurrence of a given failure condition (FC).
  • Typically performed using a software tool such as CAFTA. Can be qualitative, especially in the conceptual design phase, but most often includes failure rates and exposure times for basic events in order to facilitate the quantification of probabilities for top events (i.e. FCs identified in the aircraft or system FHA as well as the PSSA).

ANDN

  • Parnassus has prepared FTAs for numerous electro-mechanical, hydraulic and electronic avionics, flight controls, hydraulic and hydro-mechanical items and systems certified for use on commercial and military jets.
